- Chant Om Namah Shivay mantra at least 108 times.
- On the day of Shivratri, you can keep fast for the whole day.

- After taking bath in the evening, worship Bholenath and Shivling in the temple of the house.
- Begin the worship with Ganesha and then start worshiping Shiva.
- Remember, do this worship only at 4 o’clock.
- Bholenath should worship Lord Shiva with fruits, flowers, sandalwood, bilva patra, dhatura, incense and lamp.
- Milk, curd, ghee, honey and sugar should be anointed with water after bathing the Shivling with Panchamrit separately and mixing all of them together.
- At the end, offer flowers to these eight names of Bholenath Bhava, Sharva, Rudra, Pashupati, Ugra, Mahan, Bhima and Ishaan, as well as perform aarti and circumambulation of Shiva.
